Tiller’s Murder: An Excuse for Exploitation
Via Fox News:
U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder dispatched the U.S. Marshals Service to protect “appropriate people and facilities around the nation” in the wake of the murder of late-term abortion provider Dr. George Tiller in Wichita, Kansas on Sunday morning.
U.S. Marshals spokesman Jeff Carter, who confirmed the new security measures, told FOX News, “I can not disclose the subjects of our security efforts as it is the policy of the U.S. Marshals not to comment on the status of any protective detail.”
Anti-abortion leaders voiced concern Sunday that the Obama administration and other Democrats may try to capitalize on the murder of Tiller to defuse the abortion issue in upcoming Supreme Court confirmation hearings.
Many anti-abortion groups condemned the killing of Tiller, a prominent abortion provider who was shot dead at his church in Wichita, Kansas. But they expressed concern that abortion-rights activists would use the occasion to brand the entire anti-abortion movement as extremist.
They also worried that there would now be an effort to stifle anti-abortion viewpoints during questioning of Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor. Her exact views on abortion aren’t known, but conservatives fear she supports abortion rights.
Said the Rev. Patrick Mahoney, an anti-abortion activist: “No one should use this tragedy for political gain.” Click here to read more.
I have to agree with The Curt Jester who describes this new assignment of U.S. Marshals as an overreaction on the part of the Obama administration.
What happened with the murder of George Tiller was tragic, but it was the act of one sick individual who was definitely not pro-life.
From Jill Stanek:
Kansas Meadowlark has additional information on George Tiller’s killer, Scott Roeder, who is more the paranoid unibomber type, as this snapshot of his life 13 years ago reveals:
Scott Roeder is sentenced to 16 months in state prison for parole violations following a 1996 conviction for having bomb components in his car trunk. Roeder, a sovereign citizen and tax protester, violated his parole by not filing tax returns or providing his social security number to his employer.
Kansas Meadowlark also provides a detailed description of Roeder which reveals that he is not a member of any pro-life group.
The Wichita Eagle reveals that 51 – year-old Roeder of Merriam, KS, was an a member of the “Freemen” movement.
“Freemen” was a term adopted by those who claimed sovereignty from government jurisdiction and operated under their own legal system, which they called common-law courts. Adherents declared themselves exempt from laws, regulations and taxes and often filed liens against judges, prosecutors and others, claiming that money was owed to them as compensation.
The individual we are looking at here is definitely not typical for this conservative, primarily Christian community.
The pro-aborts are now exploiting Tiller’s freakish murder. Obama’s radical abortion administration and other pro-aborts are now trying to turn this terrible tragedy into an opportunity to: blame Tiller’s death on pro-lifers, condemn pro-lifers, and seek political gain.
What can we do about it?
Besides prayer (which is essential), we need to share the truth — as pro-lifers we condemn all acts of violence, even the violent murder of George Tiller, who willfully and intentionally murdered thousands of babies and who maimed and murdered women.
